Still life with herrings

This is an old masters inspired still life. I've always loved to paint still lifes. You can make them meaninful or not. Just a composition of objects, light, shadows and colors. I like to start from a dark background adding layers of color . It is a way to preserve a kind of magical, dreamlike light. This one is made with acrylic gouache. and size is 20X30 cms.
